Weddingbells recently released the results of their 2015 wedding statistics in their reader’s survey report. They found out some pretty interesting stuff, like the most popular month for weddings, and even about the burgeoning role of social media and technology in wedding planning! We’ve summarized their 2015 wedding staticstics for you below:
Age:
Couples are engaged for an average 1 year and 10 months.
The average bride was 30 years old.
Size & Location:
Number of projected weddings is up from 157,125 in 2014 to 160,324 in 2015- 22,445 of those wedding will be destination weddings.
The average wedding consisted of 129 guests.
1 in 4 Canadian couples have a destination wedding.

Wedding Planning:
Only 18% of Canadian couples hired a wedding planner in 2014, but those who did were 16% more likely to be “ecstatic” with the results of their wedding.
Average cost of a wedding planner was $3,535- which isn’t a bad price for ecstaticism on your wedding day!
Wedding planners worked with an average budget of $37,948 in 2014
36% of brides find wedding planning to be more stressful than enjoyable- as wedding planners, it’s our job to make sure that our brides (and grooms) don’t become this statistic!

The Role of Digital and Online Media in Wedding Planning:
Brides spend an average of 4.3 hours per week consuming wedding-related media
92% of couples feel it is important that a wedding website be Canadian when they are browsing for information online
80% of brides use Pinterest for wedding planning
42% of brides use a wedding app every day.
