Samantha and Ryan’s Toronto Music Garden Proposal Story #SheSaidYesTdot
A summer proposal at the Toronto Music Garden
The Toronto Music Garden is a lovely spot in Toronto, and are very popular for engagement and wedding photography because there aren’t many spots in the city where a couple can have nature-filled shots juxtaposed with graffiti and charming city photos. Samantha and Ryan had a lovely surprise proposal at the Toronto Music Gardens, and Samantha is the sister of our own social media intern, Tarisha! Check out her story here:
Ryan and I were introduced by mutual friends about two years ago, and went on our first date in November 2013. Many of our excursions includes us roaming around the downtown Toronto area and discovering new places to hang out and see.
Since Ryan and I spend a lot of our free time downtown, when we made plans to go get drinks in the distillery district on a random Saturday in June of 2015, I didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary. On the the subway ride there he said that we needed to make a quick stop. I asked where, to which he answered the Toronto Music Garden; somewhere neither one of us had been. On our way there we got a bit lost and went too far East, and then decided to hop in a cab and we finally arrived at the Toronto Music Garden. We walked around a bit and reminisced about when we first met. We walked over to a beautiful gazebo and he pulled a letter out of his jacket he said I have something I want to read to you… As he read I realized what he was going to ask. He got down on one knee and said “will you marry me?” In tears I paused and said yes!
We want to hear your proposal story! If you are from Toronto and the surrounding GTA, or got engaged here, we want to hear how it all went down! Contact us today to be featured as one of our #SheSaidYesTdot stories!

Kelly & Andre’s Toronto Proposal Story #SheSaidYesTdot
A Love (Literally) Worth Waiting Half a Lifetime For- Toronto Proposal Story
My significant other, Andre, and I went shopping for rings many many months before he proposed. He hid the ring for months, so getting it was a like-new surprise since I hadn’t seen it in so long (forgot the details in what it looked like).
We are in our 40’s now and met in our 30’s. It is and was a love worth waiting half my lifetime for. I have never been so in love with someone. Andre feels the same way about me. We are inseparable. When one goes out without the other, we are subjected to a barrage of questions from our friends and family. It’s so funny to think that so many of our loved ones are so used to seeing us together, that it’s strange to see us apart.
Both of our kids are grown, so we enjoy a lifestyle unlike many couples our age. We can go away for weekend trips ona whim. We have more flexibility in our budgets, and more time off work than ever before.
Andre and I booked a weekend in Niagara-On-the-Lake at the Pillar & Post Inn and Spa. What a divine place. So calm and relaxing. We pre-booked our dinners, our spa afternoons and our beautiful fall days to spend shopping and browsing at NOTL.
At dinner the first night, Andre hardly ate (which is very odd for him). We had our main courses and dessert, and by surprise, a bottle of champagne showed up after dessert. That’s when he proposed! The whole restaurant erupted in congratulations and applause. It was special and a completely unexpected moment!
We don’t have a wedding date picked out – maybe one day on a Caribbean vacation!

Tiffany & Greg’s Toronto Proposal Story #SheSaidYesTdot
Reconnected Love – Toronto Proposal Story
My fiancé and I met about ten years ago but didn’t reconnect until November 2013. He found me on LinkedIn and sent a message to my inbox asking me out on a date however I didn’t see it till after the New Year. Days before Valentine’s Day we had our first date at a local coffee shop and he couldn’t take his eyes off me. It was nice to reconnect after all these years but I had no intentions of entering into a relationship at that time. He had asked me out on our second date for Valentine’s Day, we spent the entire day and night together, I knew he was special from that point on; it was one of the most memorable days of my life up until this point. I have never met someone that treats, admires and loves
me the way he does. After only a few short months of dating, on June 24th 2014 he proposed! I remember the day like the back of my hand because I wasn’t in a great mood, our day didn’t go as planned but Greg was persistent on lifting my spirits. We were
alone at home when he asked what he could do to cheer me up, to my surprise, this was followed by him getting down on one knee… I was in complete shock! I knew he was head over heels for me but I never thought he would have popped the question so soon. When I took a first glance at the ring, I didn’t take it seriously. I thought this may have just been a promise ring, but one month before that we went to Tiffany’s to look at rings for fun. A few minutes went by and I realized this was real, the ring was real, all my dreams were coming true. We kept it to ourselves for about a month because we were afraid what people would think but my friends and family couldn’t have been more happier for me. I’m looking forward to all the planning, the shopping and of course getting married to my guy next August 🙂

Ruth & Navin Proposal #SheSaidYesTdot
I’m not even sure where to start. On Nov 5, 2014 I did my usual routine of dragging myself out of bed and getting to school. When I came home, I went to get food and saw this…. My favorite! Chocolate covered strawberries with white chocolate drizzled in my favourite colour….. and I was confused….. I thought okay my sisters must want something.
I went to my bedroom and saw that my door was shut (I knew something was up, my door is never shut unless I am home). I opened up my door and saw this….
The note had a few lovey dovey mushy things and instructed me to get dressed by 4:30 and my carriage awaits. So I got dressed, waited and my boyfriend Navin came to my house to pick me up. We went to his house and he blindfolded me. He drove (I tried to track his route in my head but I lost track). We got to our destination, he took me out and guided me inside carefully, because I had heels on and was blindfolded! He took my blindfold off and I had a huge smile on my face, then I looked around and I’m like “Oh we’re in Moxies hmmm…” (Moxie’s was our first dinner date). We had dinner, and he told me that we were going somewhere else afterwards. Then all of a sudden I hear Rihanna’s We Found Love playing (which was the first song we danced to on our first date – first date was on my birthday) and he went down on one knee, pulled out the ring, mumbled something and all I understood was “Will you marry me?” I said yes!
His best friend took some photos of us, and Navin blindfolded me again, and we were on our way to the second destination. When we arrived, I heard my mom laughing and giggling. When he took the blindfold off, everyone was sitting down at the table waiting for me. But it was my Dad’s birthday as well! So we celebrated my Dad’s birthday and our engagement.
At the end of the night we took a few other photos to reenact the proposal moment for everyone else, and we even took a photo in front of his second wife (his car)!
It turns out that my sisters were in on everything! They knew if Navin told me to get ready to go out, I would have put on sweats and a t-shirt, so they made sure that I dressed appropriately. He asked my parents for their approval few weeks before he planned the proposal and they were overjoyed. And we are now planning our wedding for July 2016 with the amazing Whim Team. #SheSaidYesTdot

Kelsey & Adam Proposal #SheSaidYesTdot
I’ve always been the girl who was worried about finding love. I constantly worried over if the person that I was with was all in or asking myself, “why am I not all in?” All of that changed when I met Adam. We worked together for 2 years before we dated, but in that time I got to know the most loyal, caring, intelligent and intensely funny person I had ever met. But, it took month long separation when we were put on different projects made me realize that my respect for this man had grown into something else.
Three months later, after I bit the bullet and told him how I felt, we started dating. I kept waiting for the familiar feeling of doubt to show up, but it never came. And the longer we were together the more those thoughts faded into the background. I knew I was all in.
On our one year anniversary, I asked another question. I asked Adam to move in with me. He agreed and we moved in together in June 2014. I also told him that I was done asking questions; the next one was his turn.
After living together for a few months, we had many conversations about kids, where we would live and what we wanted out of our lives, both individually and as a team. We talked about marriage, but we never talked about a proposal or a wedding. We both knew each other wanted to get married and wanted to have a wedding, but we never talked about it in any detail. I think the marriage part was much more exciting that we both glossed over that event.
That is probably why I was so utter shocked when on Christmas morning, Adam got down one knee after our little couple’s present exchange, pulled out a little black box and asked me to marry him. I hyperventilated, stuck out my hand, looked at him through teary eyes and finally squeaked, “Yes!” I’m engaged to the man of my dreams, we are getting married next September and I think I’m still shaking.

My name is Alisha, and I am a proposal-story-aholic. I figured that I would get our proposal contest started by telling you my own proposal story! It’s a few years old now, and we’ve since married, but I’d love to tell you a bit more about me.
My own story started innocently enough. Kash and I began dating in high school and managed to keep it together throughout university and those weird post-school days where you’re trying to find a job in a crappy economy. Eventually we settled into careers and began to consider our future. We decided to move in together and enjoy some time living in beautiful downtown Toronto. We moved into a teeny, tiny apartment and had a lot of fun learning to live (and cook) together.
A few months into living together we took a milestone trip to Trinidad to visit all of his family. This was a milestone for me because I was going to meet his extended family, and they meant the world to him. We had an incredible time on the trip, and we were surrounded by so much love, and great food and fun times that we almost didn’t want to come home.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end, so we made our way back to Canada (in ridiculously frigid weather, too), and settled back into working. A few months after that I mentioned that I wanted to head to NYC to visit family for my birthday, but unfortunately Kash couldn’t make the trip due to work commitments. I booked my plane tickets and made plans with my cousins to hang out for a few days. At the last minute Kash surprised me by telling me that he was able to come for a few days because he ironed out some details at work because he really didn’t want to spend my first birthday with us living together with me in different country. I was so happy because I really was going to miss him, even if it was for a few days. We packed up and flew out to NYC a few days later.
After we got to NYC, Kash suggested that we head to Manhattan the next day take a stroll around the city and eat something yummy. Kash and I are huge foodies, so it came as no surprise to me that he’d want to spend some time eating in one of the greatest cities in the world. We took the train to Manhattan and immediately went to Central Park. In all the years that I visited NYC, I had never ventured into Central Park, so he thought it would be nice to take a stroll. As we walked along, we saw a lot of different people enjoying the warm April day. Kash walked me to the top of a sort of gazebo that overlooked the entire park, and it was deserted despite being fairly large. We sat on the bench and cuddled for a bit, and chatted about how lovely the day was. What I recall most distinctly was that a musician was playing a saxophone somewhere in the distance and finding the music so soothing. I closed my eyes for a bit, just taking in the day, and when I opened them, my soon-to-be fiancé was down on one knee in front of me, and asked me to be his wife. It was such an unforgettable moment, and it made NYC even dearer to my heart than it was before.
