On Sunday October 12th, Michelle and I had the pleasure of working with Nirvanie Srikishun Photography to do a lovely fall engagement shoot for our clients, Ashley Lawan and Ben Constable. Ashley and Ben are a sweet couple who have been together for over 5 years. Ben proposed to Ashley in July of 2014 with a lovely sunset proposal outdoors at a conservation site. So for their engagement shoot, Michelle and I envisioned a simple fall picnic with the beautiful Toronto Music Gardens as the backdrop.
Since the shoot was scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, Michelle and I handcrafted a cornucopia that featured sunflowers and green berries. The colours popped beautifully and set the stage for the simple picnic look that we were envisioning. A few helium balloons, a wicker picnic basket, a simple beige picnic blanket, and champagne with flutes completed the look. While the set up was simple, Ashley and Ben provided all the romance needed, and you can feel the love in every photo.
This lovely couple is getting married next month, and we can’t wait to experience the joy of witnessing their union. We had a great time working with Nirvanie, too! She captured awesome shots of our couple, and managed to capture a few of Michelle and I being silly behind the scenes. Nirvanie specializes in lifestyle and fashion photography, and we look forward to working with her again in the future. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from the shoot, and stay tuned for our behind the scenes video!
As 2014 is quickly coming to an end, it’s time to start looking forward to the new and upcoming colour trends of 2015! Many brides this past year have opted for muted alternatives to their favourite colours- so instead of bright pink, a lot of blushes, peaches, and nudes have been seen. As for bold colours, vivid blues and deep purples have dominated. So what can you expect to see come 2015?
It seems as though there will be a rise in misted colours like periwinkle, some more neutrals, and layering of colours from the same family. The trend of nudes and muted colours will likely carry over into this year as well. We’re hoping to continue seeing the combination of some contrasting colours like mahogany and sea blue, and fuchsia with raspberry pink and citrus influenced orange.
Here are some colours we think will dominate the bridal scene this year:
Deep Blush Pink
And of course, the classic collection of maroon, burnt oranges, and deep browns for will be present for those Fall 2015 weddings. We’ve also noticed some brides incorporating royal purple into their autumn nuptials, which is a beautiful accent to the quintessential Fall palette.
